About this service
A fire alarm system uses a network of detectors- heat, smoke, or multi-sensor- wired back to a central control panel that monitors the building continuously and triggers sounders, beacons, and (where specified) a monitored signal to an alarm receiving centre the moment a fire condition is detected. Because the system runs on mains power with battery backup, it keeps working through a power cut, and the panel logs every activation so faults and events can be traced.
Fire alarm systems are designed around the specific building they protect; a small residential installation looks very different from a category L or category P system in a commercial or multi-occupancy property. They're particularly important for landlords, HMOs, offices, and any building with a legal duty under fire safety legislation, where the right category of system isn't optional but a compliance requirement.
All fire alarm installations are designed and installed to BS 5839, the British Standard governing fire detection and alarm systems in buildings, the benchmark used by insurers, building control, and fire risk assessors to judge whether a system is adequate. Direct Power manages the full installation and coordinates with your fire risk assessor or building control where sign-off is required, so the system is correctly categorised, installed, and commissioned from the outset.
All work is carried out by qualified, BAFE-accredited engineers, the recognised UK certification scheme for fire detection and alarm system installers.
